Chomping like a Bird
Throughout this passage I will
be talking about what ostriches eat and how they eat. The first fact I am
sharing with you is that ostriches are omnivores witch mean they eat both plants and animals. The main
things they eat are leaves, seeds, roots, lizards, snakes, rodents, and other
animals if they are really hungry. Their diet varieties are can be scarce and hard to find throughout the
year. It is important that ostriches get as many nutrients as possible. If you
are wondering how big and long their intestines are, they are 46 feet long!
That’s almost twice the size of human’s intestines. Isn’t that long? This kind
of bird swallows pebbles and sand to help grind up their food. They do this I
they’re gizzard. As you
can tell, ostriches have a very awesome way of eating!
